Here are some tips from the National Weather Service on how to stay safe during a tornado.

    The safest place to be is underground like in a basement.

    If you don't have a basement: A small, windowless interior room or hallway on the lowest level of the sturdy building is the safest alternative.

    Mobile homes are not safe during tornadoes. The National Weather Service says you should abandon mobile homes and get to the nearest sturdy building you can find.
